We've been designing and installing innovative off-grid solar and energy storage systems since 2009, which provide reliable and sustainable power to properties that are not connected to the national electricity grid.
For existing homes we handle all of the grid connection and/or disconnection requirements with the network, making your life easy!
Our off-grid solar systems are designed to provide reliable power in even the most remote locations, such as rural properties, cabins, and eco-resorts. Even businesses that are looking to go off the grid engage in our services. Our systems are fully customisable across our fleet of brands, allowing customers to select the appropriate components to match their energy needs, including high-efficiency solar panels, hybrid inverters, and powerful lithium-ion batteries.

"We work closely with our customers to understand their energy requirements and design a system that is optimised for their property. Our team of experienced technicians ensures that each system is installed to the highest standard, providing customers with a reliable and sustainable source of power" Mark Cleverley, Island Energy's General Manager Taking your home off the electrical grid with solar and energy storage is an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint, become energy-independent and eliminate electricity bills.
Here are the basic steps to get started:
1. Assess Your Energy Needs The first step is to assess your energy needs to determine the size of the solar system and energy storage required to power your home. This involves evaluating your energy consumption, identifying energy-efficient appliances, and reducing your overall energy consumption. We use load profile calculators to assist you in the stage.
2. Have an off grid specialist design a system for your property Once you have done your research and found a company who you trust, it's time to request a design and quotation. The company will design the system based on your energy requirements, location, roof type, and budget. It's essential to consider the solar panels' quality, inverter, and battery storage solutions to ensure maximum energy efficiency and long-term reliability.
3. Accept the design and quotation and Install Once you have accepted the quotation and you are happy with the proposed off grid solar system, its time to install the solar panels and inverter to your property. An experienced installer will evaluate your home's unique electrical wiring and install the system to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
4. Commissioning and Certification Once the off grid solar system is installed, it will require Final Commissioning, monitoring set up and a Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES). This is conducted by a third party Electrical Safety Inspector.
5. Monitor Your System Regular monitoring of the solar system and energy storage will ensure that the system is working correctly and efficiently. Many solar systems come with monitoring software that tracks energy generation and usage, enabling you to optimise your system for maximum efficiency. It is also good to develop good consumption habits and behaviours so that you know what you are drawing from your system. Using power during the day is a good way to maximise your off grid system.

By taking these steps, you can take your property off the electrical grid, eliminating electricity bills, reducing your carbon footprint, and becoming energy-independent. No more power bills and no more grid outages!
With a mission to provide clean energy solutions to customers across Australia, we've developed a range of customisable off-grid solar systems to meet the unique energy needs of properties in remote locations. Unlike traditional generators, our off-grid solar systems are quiet, efficient, and require minimal maintenance. These systems are also designed to integrate seamlessly with existing energy infrastructure, such as diesel generators, providing backup power when needed. Some are backed up with a generator should you go without direct sunlight for multiple days in a row.
"Our off-grid solar systems are providing customers with a sustainable and reliable source of power that allows them to live off the grid and reduce their environmental impact," Island Energy's CEO Kai Summerfield
"We have received a lot of positive feedback from our customers who have engaged our off-grid solar systems for their properties. They are impressed by the reliability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of our systems."
Off-grid solar systems represent a significant shift towards a more sustainable, decentralised energy system in Australia. With a focus on providing customisable, reliable, and efficient solar systems we are making renewable energy accessible to customers across the country.
